CODY	Stay still in the beginning and don’t mess with your costume. Great job and great energy as foreman!!!!!!!!!!!!  Kudos to you.
TY	Great job!  Good delivery in the bar scene. Great job backstage. Be discontent with jared at the beginning of the scene 13, then build to who do  you think you are?  Make the audience tense up , then jump. Add a laugh – I think I’m right. A smirk Amaazing job Radio scene was great.
Louis, Reg and Cody	Great striking – energy was good. It was real.
HAYDEN	Great job striking Be ashamed. You left your best friend to die when you say you thought Nate was behind you. You were so believable
PAIGE	Lower voice Great job being in the moment each scene.
Graham	Great job in steel mill with the cap? You were amazing tonight.
MICHELLE	When acting like a man, slow down working and walking. Then what is that – not this. Wonderful job – so believable
TUCKER	Louder on the pervert line and stand so we can see you. A little more drunkenness in scene – anyone seen Marie” Push Rose harder Bigger looking out for Billy. More energy – you were good tonight, but you need to match Hayden’s energy. Act more ignorant when Rose talks to you. You improve each rehearsal.
HANNAH	Laugh when Frank rubs Reg’s head. Come in stronger and louder in scene 15 Great job in fighting scene. Act fidgety then break down in mortgage scene. You made me tear up. During the nate and billy wall scene, move the chair downstage to more right stage so it is not blocking that scene.
CHEYANNE	Stand how they did in the 40’s. Great job – wiping tears away in Nate being hurt scene.
Jared	Be ready In first Hilton scene, act more intimidated, more scared and frantic. SLOW DOWN Very emotional – the audience was with you throughout the play
Nathan	More reaction to Reg and Billy Fighting. I got you – only 2 Wonderful as the photographer and the bystander. You add so much because you THINK!!!
Rose	Yell when Nate pushes you. You make me tear up too!  You have grown so much since last year!
Reg and Alice	Smile at each other after you kiss
Lights	Up quicker on Reg and Frank. Great work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carson	Be meaner – let’s look at the script and find more lines. Wonder ful job – you are such a consistent character – always reacing.
Carson and Michelle	What is this? Throw the paper at Kelly and then have her force it back in your hands.
Abbey	Turn fire off at the beginning.
Louis and Marie	Keep the relationship going at the beginning after the kissing.  More giggling. Lost your accent in the scene after checkers.

REHEARSAL CHANGES

On SUNDAY, we need to have rehearsal from 1-3/3:30.  -On stage in costume by 1. Sorry. I know most of you go out to eat after church.  The cheerleaders can go to their meeting at 3:30.  

 

Monday night, we will have rehearsal at 6:30 on stage in costume.The cheerleaders can go to their meeting at 8.  Donna Elmore is allowing the JV cheerleaders to go first for the judges. 

Sorry for the inconvenience.  On March 7, we have a clinic in Denver City at 10:30.  The kids will miss most of the school day.  Cody Berryman will go with the baseball team.  On March 8, we have a clinic at Frenship at 8AM.  We will be finished at 10. For parents going out of town, you may come to Frenship and pick your child up. Please have a note for me.  

On Friday, March 15th, we will have a four hour rehearsal - Let me know what time is good for you. On Saturday, March 16,  I would like to have a rehearsal from 9-2.  I know that is the D Now weekend, but kids have gotten passes.  We will have our regular rehearsal at 2 on Sunday, March 17. I know kids will be tired.  After that, we have four rehearsals left until contest.  Please contact me if you have ideas for rehearsals during Spring Break. Thanks for your prayers.  Kevin is undergoing his first bout of chemo today.  It's been tough, and I appreciate your cooperation.

The timing is off. Hilton ensemble scene was great. Move voting scene sooner Hit the bricks – NEED people noises – Billy’s mono – quicker Tomorrow – We will time set up – then  rework train scene. We will try the blackout. Which side are you on? Faster and mean it. Speed through was 12:03 Time was 38:06 Thanks to Madi, Avery and Kayla for taking notes. Need more people in the back during the mill scene. Everyone needs to touch more-hugs, pats on the back, shaking hands, especially Reg and Alice when they talk to each other.  Also Hilton and Kelly in the middle of the play We are losing accents as the play goes on, SO ACCENTS IN THE FINE ARTS AREA ALL THE TIME. Make sure someone turns on and off the radio. Strikers, don’t just stand and walk.  See the emotions that are going on during the strike.- tiredness – stress, tension, joy etc.  let someone join the strike so that we can see it. Everyone	Great job  yesterday – we made great strides. Soul – Hit – with energy Steel mill was better , but we still need more urgency in getting Billy out. Slo mo during Reg & Alice’s first scene about the string. Out like a light? Nate needs to be bigger. Billy helping Wall – look at the floor Which side are you on – sung faster with expressions on faces Yell  at the end – begin the sign – more strike signs.
Marie & Louis	More neck kissing until she is through with babies line.
Louis	Freeze after checkers with face toward marie.
Nate	First round is on me – Upstage hand. You did so well last night.
Women	First bar scene – someone point at the guys so that the women can be quiet and listen. – Much better.

Everyone	Much better second time around. React to and about Michelle when she comes in contact with the strikers – on the strike and in the voting area. Transition must be faster after the voting scene. Don’t let the people noise die. Change in the welfare scene. Most of you are doing this – being cold, dismayed, etc; but the people who are not “in to the scene” are causing the welfare scene to be unbelievable ( not unbelievable good). BE QUIET changing all scenes.  Women’s shoes.  Radio scene is good. “youngest guy on the line” needs to be louder. Know what the weather is.  Allison, give me the sheet you worked on for the weather and everyone needs to be on the same page. When it is hot, you need to be sweaty. Hit the bricks – beat must be together We need strikers on strike after scene 17.  Be out there.  Work, smoke, eat, drink. Find stage business. Memorize lines! The ending needs to be stronger and the hit more committed.  It is victorious. We need smokers during the voting scene – no one outlawed smoking in public buildings React    React    react Exit in character Hand out flyers in back before the vote is counted. Watch hats in faces. Keep the energy up all the way through. At the end, we need more people throwing hats.  Do something different. Don’t drag chairs. Be different in each scene. When Nate and Rose fight, girls whisper and gossip We need more levels in the train scene Girls need to sit up straight – wear corsets When you talk in the welfare scene, make sure the audience can see you. The transition from steel mill to the Marie Louis scene was better. First bar scene was good. First Hilton scene was good. Hell with the rest of us scene was good Second Hilton meeting was amazing. Graham ‘s – order scene was good. Rose, Marie’s and Hayden’s scene was good. More strike signs at the end.  Solidarity forever at the end was great.
Tucker	Need a relationship with Allison at the beginning Be louder in the steel mill Poles – you were blocked. Must see a reaction to the slap. Throw cards in the hat so that you seem disinterested in Allison. At the end, you are hurt.  Act hurt. Step on lines with Billy. Be angrier at Billy for leaving you. Jump sideways so that the men do not fight you so far back.
Hannah	Cheat out to the audience more. Lost your accent at times.
Men	You must be louder in the steel mill.
Cody	We must see more of you going over to the other side.
Tucker and Hayden	More nervous about the bag.
Times	4:45 sec – Don’t come up here Reggie 9:30 You know the foreman in the change house 19 min –What are you going to do? This strike is a time to change. 24 – You mind me too, Capiche? 28:50-They deserve to be treated like people, not machines 33:30 – No, Billy, that’s not what we need.
Savannah	Still choppy Frozen at the beginning – look at exit sign until you and Louis are spoken to.
To do	Women who are making sandwiches – wear aprons including Marie in the where’s marie scene.
Reg and Alice	Your relationship does not feel real.  The Ach dearie – is something they share – a secret code – make this endearing. Look at the scene that you both missed twice – Don’t say that…
Nate & Billy	This must seem real.  Both of you are hot headed and spur of the moment kind of guys.  Hang on each other’s words.  Step on lines.
Nate and Rose	Develop the relationship more.  Where there is heart, the audience needs to see it.
Carson	Sit professionally and find busy work. – especially in first scene. Frozen at the beginning
Paige	Lower voice
Allison	Keep looking for Nate as you did today.
Graham	Move action of looking for Savannah farther CS.  Ask several people and be looking for her before you see her.  CIGARETTES More over the top with Marie and Vinnie. Slap your hat to your legs after she says capiche.

Great  rehearsal.  We made a lot of headway.

Sunday – on stage dressed by 2 – end at 4:30.
We have to be better by Monday.  No one is in the first slot, so we can have more time with Freida.  Get in here by 8:30- dressed & makeup by 9.  If it takes you longer, come in earlier. I am here by 7.

Everyone	Hits need to be together Laugh at the Gibralter joke Quiet backstage Hand out pamphlets, paint signs, type pamphlets until the vote has been counted. Memorize lines. If music is playing, be louder than the music. Sing in unity Freeze together. People noises are better Music was better in the beginning Act cold, tired, angry, embarrassed in welfare scene. Work on barrel cue In welfare, people noises died.  Keep them up during the show. Remember the assigned furniture for the welfare scene, where it is, and where it goes. Remember your props. Welfare scene is still choppy – STEP ON LINES Barrel boys, good reactions.  Keep it up.  Use the barrel when it is cold and you are walking the picket line. Review cues and lines. Don’t let people noises die Billy is drunk and he is trying to say union and unionization, but it comes out onion and onionization.  Ethnic groups were laughed at because they ate onions all the time. When Nate speaks of slag, react.  It is molten steel -1425-2800degrees Fahrenheit. Take the set down in character. React….React….React Nate’s line – who’s he calling a pervert?  _ he is mystified- serious…. Ya’ll laugh at him. The talking from those working upstage should not be louder than those with lines. Make sure to hand Michelle a pamphlet Watch dropping accents. In class First, read and discuss the critique. You will be on stage acting. Set the stage. Haydon, Graham, Ty, and Jared will help the sub direct the scenes. No one is allowed to go anywhere.  Begin with scene 17, page 27 in my gray script book – “we have the results of the vote” – hit the bricks – Billy’s We marched down to the gate and a lot of us……Scene 19- to the end of the class period. Have other kids read lines for people who are absent.
Savannah	Your lines are choppy.  Look at Italian movies and see how the women act.  Watch the older women on My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I have the DVD in the back by the overhead projector. The way they use their hands is the way you should.  Listen to You Tube.  You look Italian and you flirt Italian – now live it.
